Unit 16 task 1- essay draft
Development
In camera editing:
This is when a film has been has been shot in chronological order resulting in a product that does not have the need for post-production process. Editing with the camera involves planning what shots will be filmed therefor the film will already be complete when the film is developed.
When film first started in the 1800’s there was no editing at all so film makers had to edit in camera an example of this is when Alfred Hitchcock used the technique rope. Another example would be from Jean-Luc Godard who also used it in this film breathless. Both of these directors helped create in camera editing film which lead to the advancement of technology of in camera editing.
Following the action:
Following the action is when there is an action scene such as a car crash, a dolly which is a camera attached to a cart that moves on a track is used to follow the movement of that scene. Many dollies also have the ability to move vertically to capture footage that could be at a higher level. This could also be achieved by attaching the camera to a crane to capture the footage eaisly an successfully. An example would be from a scene from suicide squad when the Joker and Harley Quinn crash in the the hudson river.
This is some pre- production footage from the scene. As you can see the car is attached to a track and there is a water sustainable camera attached to the car.
Multiple points of view:
Multiple points of view refers to the different view points of the people of screen. The camera is placed as though it is from the characters point of view and the audience will see what that character is seeing.

Unit 27 task 3- treatment
Treatment
The idea for my documentary is to do it based on the east end specifically Bethnal green, Whitechapel and brick lane. The reason for this is because there is a lot of history in these areas that connect with each other.
The concept I have for this documentary is to talk about the east end and the history in the selected areas because not a lot of people know about it, an example of this is talking about joseph Merrik also known as the elephant man who died in the royal London hospital.
The target audience for this documentary is audience members from the age of 14 and above due to some gorey content. The documentary is mainly aimed at those who like to watch documentaries and students who may find the documentary useful.
The narrative of the documentary will be voiceovers and images to add visual information for the audience to see. The scenario for the documentary will be a timeline from the world- war to modern times. My research will be secondary research either from watching documentaries about the people I am going to talk about, reading books or looking on the internet for those who play a significant part in the history of the east end. My documentary will be an observational documentary so I will not be conducting any interviews.
The krays the myth behind the legend is a documentary about the kray twins who were east end gangsters during the 50s and 60s in Bethnal green, the documentary had interviews from members of the firm and rivals gangs as well as members of the public who knew them personally.
The legal issues I will need to take into consideration are accuracy and contract with the viewer meaning that the information that will be in the documentary has to be true and this also follows into the contract with the viewer meaning that they will know what they are watching and hearing is all true.
The ethical issues that I have to consider is access meaning I will have to ask permission to use any old photographs from the eras I will talk about as well as filming in shops and other public areas.
Production role
As I am the only person creating this documentary I will be working alone so I will be filming, recording voiceovers and editing the documentary.
